Study support routine use of braces to reduce low back injuries!

Making workers wear corset like back braces can reduce the number of low back injuries by about one third, report researchers at the University of California, LA School of public Health. (Int. Journal of Occupational Environment Health)
The researchers reviewed 6 years of work related injury records of nearly 37,000 employees of a chain warehouse-style stores selling lumber, home remodeling supplies and hardware. They found that before the back support policy was introduced, the workers sustained 30.6% acute low back injuries per 1 million hours worked but after the back brace policy was introduced, the back injury rate fell to 20.2% per 1 million work hours, a reduction of 34% .
the protective effects of back braces was seen throughout the workplace

Uniform mandatory implementation of back support use policy significantly reduced the incidence of acute low back injuries incurred in the workplace, the researchers concluded.
